| The day before the Chicago movers come, pack each plant in an appropriate sized moving box. However, first of all give them a good drink of water, put them in a black trash bag sealed tight, then in the box. Be sure and seal the box. Write "LIVE PLANT" on the outside with arrows pointing upright. If you have a good mover, they will load these last. The larger greenery needs to go in a dishpack, and you probably will not be able to close the box, but still follow the steps, and make some type of plastic cover over these. What happens is they create their own mini environment, and can survive up to a week in these boxes. |

| When taking inventory please make an estimate of value to tell your Chicago mover. A Valuation is the degree of "worth" of the shipment. The valuation charge compensates the mover for assuming a greater degree of liability than that provided for in the base transportation charges. |

| Normally paying your Chicago mover will be done C.O.D., which stands for cash on delivery. Transportation for a private shipper may require C.O.D. at the time of delivery at the destination residence (or warehouse). |

| You may want to arrange for someone to take care of the kids (and pets) while the Chicago movers are packing and loading your items. Have the caregiver bring the kids back home prior to the truck leaving as it important for young children to understand where their belongings are going. |

| It is important to point out special items to your Chicago mover. Set these items aside the day before the move. Then, once the mover arrives, point out items that are most special to you during the walkthrough. All your items will be handled professionally but take a moment to show them which ones need the most special care. Also, point out the boxes you would like to have unloaded first, if they are not going into storage. These boxes may include kitchen and bathroom items, or your children's toys. |
